In January 1912 the "John Harvey", from Belleoram, was caught in a terrible storm. John Foote's bravery saved the lives of the crew - Foote and Kiping were lost. Gabares [sp?] helped the survivors and Captain Curry had the unhappy taks of returning the bodies of Foote and Kiping to Newfoundland
