Three separate interviews plus Cadets review: An interview with Dr. Westerman, a doctor newly arrived in Buchans from Hamburg, Germany via South Africa. Dr. Westerman discusses his impressions of Buchans and its people, contrasting the way of life there from that in Hamburg. -- Interview with three school principals: Marie Smith, St. Theresa's All-Grade School; Frank Norman, Exploits Valley Integrated High School; Clem Peddle, Exploits Valley Integrated Elementary School. The principals discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the new curriculum and the effects of the economic conditions in Buchans on their schools. -- Interview with eight students (Julie Byrne, Tammy Reynolds, Annie Pittman, Ann Quirk, Jane Efford, Darren Squires, Teri Lynn Gulliford, Jeff Perry) who have taken part in the one week Canadian Studies program at the Terry Fox Canadian Youth Centre in Ottawa. -- Annual inspection of 2813 Buchans Cadet Corps conducted by Major S. W. Thompson. The cadets parade; perform a first-aid demonstration; and perform gymnastics and demonstrate physical fitness.
