Vertical Stratification Of Beetles (Coleoptera) In Lowland Dipterocarp Forest Of Kubah National Park, Sarawak

A total of65J individuals comprising of75 species from 20 families ofbeetles (Coleoptera) were recorded in Kubah National Park, Sarawak within 15 days of sampling by using modified Pennsylvanian light traps at different vertical stratification. Family Chrysomelidae represented the most abundant family with 174 individuals. At 1 m above ground, the most abundant species was Nebria sp. with 46 individuals. The most abundant species at 20 m canopy level was Porrostoma sp. with 51 individuals. The value of Shannon Diversity Index t-test for both level was P = 0.4792. Thus, there is no significant difference between species diversity at 1 m ground and 20 m canopy level. The diversity of species between both ground and canopy were influenced by the vegetation types existed in the forest
