ABSTRACT The efficiency of Poplar sawdust as a low cost adsorbent for removing metal ions from aqueous solution has been investigated in this study. Batch experiments were conducted to study the effects of some parameters such as contact time, initial concentration, solution pH and temperature on the adsorption of Cd(II) sawdust. The experimental data were analyzed by the Langmuir and Freundlich models of adsorption and the results fitted well to the Langmuir isotherm. The maximum adsorption capacity of Cd(II) was found 15.15mg/g. Kinetic studies were carried out using the pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order models. The experimental data fit very well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Thermodynamic aspects of the adsorption...
