Abstract Apricot is a species less cultivated than other Prunus species, particularly peaches and plumps. This stone fruits species is a typical temperate fruit crop which has been dispersed and has become well adapted in the countries surrounding the Mediterranean Basin. Consequently, in spite of being spread geographically, apricots have not become pomologically important except in areas with special ecological conditions.
