Abstract Key words: Political Participation, Emerging Trends, Gender Equality, Africa Introduction Women have traditionally been excluded from the structures of state that determine political and legislative priorities. In recent years, Africa has witnessed rapid escalation in female political representation as compared to the low rates that existed in the 1960s. Participation of women in decision-making has more and more been placed at heart of the global agenda.
