Summary Visits to churches and other religious heritage sites are on the up. And churches are increasingly looking towards tourism as a way of generating much needed funding and reconnecting with the community. There are synergies to be gained from local authorities and businesses working with churches to enhance the local tourism offer. This article examines the increase in church tourism and provides guidance on how destination managers and churches can tap into the tourism market to the benefit of the local economy
