INTRODUCTION What is the statistical knowledge needed for teaching in grades K-8? Burgess (2009) notes, "There is an extensive research literature on teacher knowledge needed for teaching mathematics. Statistics education research has a much shorter history and its literature pertaining to teacher knowledge is relatively scarce" (p. 18).
