ABSTRACT Mutations of breast cancer susceptibility genes 1 and 2 (BRCA1 and BRCA2 ) are the most well recognized gene mutations responsible for an increased risk of developing breast cancer. This study was planned to detect the probable occurrence of three founder mutations, 185del AG and 5382ins C ( BRCA1 ) and 6174del T ( BRCA2 ) mutations in Iraqi breast cancer female patients diagnosed in Basrah by the use of Polymerase Chain Reaction ( PCR ) technique and correlate them with other clinicopathological parameters like the histological type, grade and stage of breast cancer.
