This literature review looks at the impact of cognitive remediation on the symptoms of schizophrenia patients. It seeks to verify whether a more specific remediation of verbal communication, in conjunction with cognitive and social remediation, would improve symptoms. The literature review covers 22 meta-analyses from two databases (EBSCO and PUBMED) and one specialized site (ASHA). The results show conclusive effects of cognitive remediation and social rehabilitation on symptom reduction and improved communication and executive function, despite the persistence of some negative symptoms.
