A state-of-the-art, pocket PC based, low-cost, portable, wireless health monitoring and alarm system isproposed in this paper. Human’s electrocardiogram(ECG), body temperature and heart rate informationare acquired and sent to a personal digital assistant(PDA) using IEEE 802.15.1 Bluetooth. If an emergencysituation occurs, the PDA sends the information to thecentral server using either WLAN or GSM/GPRSwireless technology. Through this way, real-timeremotely monitoring is achieved. With the developedsystem, not only people can be monitored from outsideof hospitals, but also an early treatment is possible.Furthermore, locational data obtained from GPSreceiver is shown on the digital map and sent to therelated units. Thus, the proposed system m...
