The New Zealand Kellogg Rural Leaders Programme develops emerging agribusiness leaders to help shape the future of New Zealand agribusiness and rural affairs. Lincoln University has been involved with this leaders programme since 1979 when it was launched with a grant from the Kellogg Foundation, USA.New Zealand was developed off the sheep's back.\ud It seems unfathomable that the strong wool industry, once our largest export\ud earner, is today fighting for survival. Worse than that, until recently, there was a\ud widespread view it had little chance of remaining viable, both economically and in\ud the volume of fibre produced.\ud During the Korean War farmers received £1 for a pound of wool.
