This study forms part of a wider research programme aimed at developing improved planning methodologies for resource management. The overall programme focuses upon the estimation of socio-economic effects of land use change in ruraI environments, using the Mackenzie/Waitaki Basin as a case study. The contribution of this report is to present the results of an investigation into the attitudes of stakeholders, using a preference approach. The results of the preference survey are used to generate several land use scenarios for the study area.Foundation for Research, Science and Technology
