Protein-resistant ("non-fouling") surfaces are particularly important in many fields such as medical engineering, dentistry, pharmaceutical processes, bioprocessing, dairy and food manufacturing. Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) immobilized onto surfaces has been shown to confer high resistance to protein adsorption.
