Ring-opening metathesis polymerization, or ROMP, has been known in the world of polymers as a success story. With its discovery in the middle of the 20th century, the study and understanding of this reaction led to its adoption in a multitude of areas in both academic and industrial domains. However, with the general shift towards hybrid materials and better material integration, surface-initiated polymerization (SIP) has been an area of great interest that ROMP has only tapped into at the very end of the 20th century.
