Full exterior view of Schlotterbeck and Foss building, 117 Preble Street, from west. The building was designed by Portland architects John Calvin Stevens and John Howard Stevens, and built in 1927. The business was founded in 1866, by pharmacists Augustus Schlotterbeck and Charles Foss, beginning with patent medicines and later (in 1892) expanding into various foods and flavored extracts for cooking.
