INTERCULTURALIDAD Y TURISMO: ELEMENTOS PARA EL DEBATE DESDE EXPERIENCIA TSÁCHILA

The cultural interaction between tourists and residents is an opportunity to analyze tourism, as a social fact, especially; in cases where indigenoushave a main role, like community based tourism. This paper use the main results of the research called: “The tourists and residents meeting from crosscultural perspective, and how this dynamicinfluences on community based tourism projects: the case of Tsáchila Etnographic Museum”. This research was developed for two years by the authorIn the beginning, tourism and cross-cultural definitions are revised with traditional and critical perspectives. Furthermore, is revised the methodologythat highlighted the qualitative focus and ethnographic resources in the research process. The research case description considers the social and cultural problems that have affected Tsáchila groups and how Tsachilas have carried outa cultural claim process in the last decades. The museum is part of this process, because they developed the idea of “alive museum” where visitors andresidents can interact and know the real Tsachila culture. This project has a sustainable base because it helps Tsachilas to conserve their territory andcreate jobs opportunity. After, are exposed some of factors that were used to analyze the indigenous tourism. These factors are: time, space, density, social powerrelations, nature interpretation, and marketing use of stereotypes. in this way, this paper put attention of the necessity of use difierent kind of researchresources and planning models that consider the difference of cultures. The last idea is take advantage of the touristic potential in each territory andnot only of folk use of indigenous image.El presente artículo propone una reflexión en cuanto a la dinámica y retos que presenta el desarrollo del turismo comunitario con participacidn indlgena en el marco de un Estado Intercultural, para ello se recuperan insumos de la investigación denominada “El encuentro turista-anfitrión, desde una perspectiva intercultural, y su incidencia en el desarrollo del turismo comunitario: el caso del Museo Etnográfico Tsáchila”, que fue desarrollado por la autora durante los años 2010-2012. En primera instancia, se propone un acercamiento teórico al turismo y la interculturdlidad, mediante la revisión de propuestas tradicionales y críticas de estos conceptos. Enseguida se presenta la estrategia metodológica propuesta para el estudio, la misma que privilegió el enfoque cualitativo y herramientas etnográficas de investigación. El Museo Etnográfico Tsáchilas se presenta como un sitio de estudio óptimo ya que la comunidad que es parte del museo ha sido, históricamente, víctima de un proceso de reducción y afectación territorial, así como de discriminación sociocultural. Debido a este antecedente la comunidad de Chigüilpe creá hace más de dos décadas un museo etnográfico gestionado por su comunidad, el mismo que busca reinvindicar su cultura y generarse recursos económicos, a través de la actividad turística. En una revisión de la Sociología del Turismo, tanto desde Cohen (1984) como Santana (2005) se identifican seis factores para el análisis del turismo en comunidades indígenas Estos factores son tiempo, espacio, densidad, relaciones de poder, interpretación de la naturaleza, y, generacibn de estereotipos con fines mercantiles. Cada uno de ellos son interpretados desde el significado que propane Walsh (2009) en cuanto a la interculturalidad, para en la parte final del artículo reflexionar sobre la importancia de un proceso de fortalecimiento identitario generado internamente para que las comunidades anfitrionas pueden incidir en la dinámico y éxito de los emprendimientos turísticos comunitarios indígenas, ya que, de algún modo abandonan el rol pasivo y la instrumentalización folclórica del ser indígena que el mercado turístico tradicional suele proponerles
