This paper develops both theoretical and conceptual tools with which to analyze coverage of the Syrian conflict by Middle Eastern women journalists, by drawing together theories from Arab feminist studies, conflict studies, and media studies. My content analysis of the written work of ten Arab women journalists reporting on Syria, reveals that the often-overlooked narratives of Middle Eastern women war reporters must be incorporated into international relations analyses of conflict in the Middle East in order to construct a more accurate and inclusive picture of the simultaneously local and global, personal and political, traditional and modern, colonial and postcolonial dimensions that shape those conflicts
