Southern Nevada Water Supply Project, first stage, the principal works of which will consist of a pumping plant and aqueduct designed to deliver approximately 90,000 acre-feet per annum to the Las Vegas and Eldorado Valleys for municipal and industrial use. f. Dixie Project, the principal works of which will consist of the Virgin City Dam, reservoir, powerplant, transmission, and appurtenant facilities; Santa Clara Dam and reservoir; canals, pumping plant, transmission, and related facilities. g. Desalting plant of a 50-million-gallon-per-day capacity, the principal workds of which will consist of a distillation plant and conveyance facilities to tie to municipal water systems. It is proposed that the powerplant needed in conjunction with the desalting plant will be constructed by local interests. h. Indian Irrigation Projects in Arizona, California, and Nevada. It is intended that Indian reservations, whose water rights were confirmed in the recent decision in Arizona v. California, et al., will have construction initiated and existing project completed to utilize their rights. It is proposed that construction costs within the ability of the lands to repay be subject to the Act of July 1, 1932 (47 Stat. 564), and, in recognition of the fact that assistance to Indians is a matter of national concern, that any costs in excess of the capability of such lands to repay shall be nonreimbursable. i. Fish and Wildlife and Recreational facilities are also planned for immediate construction in connection with all works being undertaken as part of the Pacific Southwest Water Plan. Such plans include facilities for the propagation of fish and wildlife, the creation and development of wildlife refuges to mitigate losses of present wildlife habitats and facilities necessary to provide public recreational activities, to conserve the scenery, natural, historic, and archeologic objects within the areas utilized by the works authorized under the Pacific Southwest Water Plan. Costs incurred in connection with such facilities should be nonreimbursable. j. Water Salvage programs to eradicate and control phreatophytes presently consuming Colorado River waters. k. Ground-Water Recovery programs in Arizona and California to conserve existing supplies of water now lost through percolation out of areas of use. The principal works will include wells, pumps, transmission facilities, and conveyance channels.
