Document: Draft of modified S. 75, 1/27/65 (carbon copy), page 5TITLE III - CONSTRUCTION Sec. 301. in order to initiate the Lower Colorado River Basin Project, herein referred to as the "Project", and to further the comprehensive development of the water resources of the Colorado River Basin the Secretary shall-- (a) construct, aperate, and maintain the mainstream reservoir unit consisting of the Bridge Canyon and Marble Canyon projects, including dams, reservoirs, powerplants, transmission facilities, and appartenant works, and the Coconine and Paria River silt--detantion reservoirs: Provided, That (1) Bridge Canyon Dam shall be constructed so as to Impound water at a normal surface elevation of one thousand sight hundred and sixty-six feet above mean sea level, (2) fluctuations in the reservoir level shall be restricted, so far as practicable, to a region of ten feet, (3) Marble Canyon Dam shall be so located as to minimize, so far as practicable, adverse affects on scanic values in and near Marble Canyon and shall be constructed so as to inpound water at a normal surface elevation of three thousand one hundred and forty feet above area sea level, and (4) this Act shall not be construed to authorize any diversion of water from either bridge Canyon or Marble Canyon reservoirs except for incidental uses in the immdiate vicinity.
