Edwards 5308 Interior Building Dear Mr. Secretary: This is in reply to your letter of March 12, 1963, and to Under Secretary Carr's letter of June 14, 1963, transmitting copies of the report that the Department proposes to present to the Senate Interior and Insular Affairs Committee on S. 502, a bill "To preserve the jurisdiction of the Congress over construction of hydroelectric projects on the Colorado River below Glen Canyon Dam." We understand that consideration will be given to revising your report to reflect certain modifications suggested in our letter to the Committee on S. 502 regarding the duration of the bill and reimbursement to the State of Arizona for costs incurred in presenting a license application to the Federal Power Commission. A copy of our letter is enclosed for your information. Accordingly, you are advised that there would be no objection to the presentation of the report to the Committee, and that enactment of S. 502 would be in accord with the President's program.
