Dear Sir: By circulation of the "Minutes of Integration Meeting Held Pursuant to Article 20 of the Agency Contract at Boulder City, Nevada- 10:00 a.m. June 14, 1962" your representative in effect confirsed an earlier inferral direction that energy from Hoover powerplant be scheduled toward delivery from Hoover during the June 1 to October 1, 1962, period of approximately 1,223,000,000 kilowatthours. Your representative declared that water will be made available for generation at Hoover in quantities at lest sufficient to satisfy consumptive use demends upon Lake Mead. On the basis of the minimum of anticipated releases, 3,595,000,000 kilowatthours, or approximately 87.4 percent of firm energy, would be generated at Hoover during the 1962-63 operating year. according to the minutes. Full firm energy for the operating year would have been 4,111,000,000 kilowatthours. There seems to have been agreement among the representatives of the operating agents and your representative that absent propoced filling of Colorado River Sterage Project Reserveirs, there would be sufficient water available for release from Lake Need to generate full firm power at Hoover during this operating year. Indeed, in our opinion, full firm power could prudently have been scheduled for this operating year under the condition of Lake Mead inflow depleted by the contemplated capture of water upstream, except for a decision to use Lake Mead storage as insurance against upstream storage in subsequent years, and to minimise the ultimate cost of Hoover impairment. The Astherity has scheduled its Hoover deliveries compatibly with requirements announced from time to time by your representative, and is meet the requirements of our summer peak, has purchased steam generated energy as replacemet for Hoover impairment. Preliminary estimates indicate that the Authority has perchasced some 50,000,000 kilowatthours of steam-generated energy to effset Hoover impeirmant, at a cost of perhaps $225,000. It has not the ability to take during the balance of the operating year any more power from Hoover than that which will be generated at Hoover on behalf of Arizona; indeed, if Hoover generation for the year is increased to 91.7 percent of firm, as is now indicated, the Authority may not be able to use all of its Hoover satitlementEpson Perfection 4870 Photo, 400 dpi, 24 bit, 2,133,548 byte
