Minarik. June 2, 1955 The Monerable Dougise McKey Secretary of the Interier Interier Building Washington, D. C. Dear Sir: The Commission of the Arizona Power Authority has authrized and Instructed us to make application for power and energy from the proposed Glen Canyon Project. Accordingly, application is hereby made for such electric power and energy as may be generated and sold at the proposed Glen Canyon Project and may be sade avallable by law, alletment, sentrast, rules or regulations for use within the State of Arizona, In determining the (??) of such power and energy to be sade avaliable for use in Arizona so well so the sates to be cherged therefor, your attention is eslied to the following points which should be given consideration. 1. The site of the proposed Glen Canyon Dam and Powerplant is lessted within and constitutes a natural resource of the State of Arizona. 2. Arizona is an Upper Basin state and Glen Canyon power and energy should be made available to the sarget areas within Arizona but outside of the Upper Basin, if Glen Canyon power and energy is made available to the (??) areas within the other Upper Basin states but which lie outside of the Upper Basin. 3. The transmission system, which any be built by the Buresu of (??)stion for delivery of power and energy to be generated at Glen Canyon, should provide for delivery to the Arizona (??) areas as well as the sartet areas in other states of the Upper Basin. Should such transmission lines not be built by the (??) of Resianstion, than the Arizona Power Authority will undertans to build such lines as may be required and found to be fessible. 4. In determining the amount of power and energy to be allocated to Arizona, consideration and weight should be given to the fast that construction of Glan Canyon Dam will prevent construction of a high dam at marble Canyon theroby depriving Arizona of power and energy which it could obtain therefore.Epson Perfection 4870 Photo, 400 dpi, 24 bit, 1,586,265 byte
