Memorandum: Memorandum of Understanding As to Functions and Obligations of Agencies to the United States in Carrying Out the International Agreement with Mexico in Minute No., Recommendations to the Colorado River Salinity Problem, Draft, February 26, 1965 (thermofax), page 3-3- A. Design, construct by October 1, 1965, and maintain an extension to the Wellton-Mohawk Irrigation and Drainage District conveyance channel, with a capacity of up to 353 c. f. s., along the left bank of the Colorado River to a point below Morelos Dam. The extension channel shall be designed and excavated to the elevations and grades approximating those of the river channel to avoid seepage of saline drainage waters to the river and to the adjoining Yuma Valley lands. The design and construction of the extension channel shall include a control structure in the reach of the channel between Morelos Dam and the Mouth of Araz Drain (3.5 miles above the dam). This control structure is to permit discharge of the District's drainage waters to the bed of the river at a point either above or below Morelos Dam. Provided, that the Bureau of Reclamation shall consult with the United States Section on the design and construction of the described works and that such design and construction of that portion of the extension channel passing through the Morelos Dam shall be subject to the approval of/International Boundary and Water Commission through the United States Section of that Commission.Epson Perfection 4870 Photo, 400 dpi, 8 bit, 1,191,771 byte
