"Without exception," the Udall-Carr statement said, "the state (hw)of the 5 governor(/hw) comments were constructive, (hw)The Unanimous support for a regional plan and regional Basin account should mean that a new era of corporation is at hands."(/hw) and hopeful that through co-operation the staggering water needs of the area, with its mushrooming population, can be met." Experts of the Bureau of Reclamation and the Office of the Solicitor are reviewing and analyzing the state reports, At the same time, the Interior officials said, a task force is at work within the Department putting into final form -- based in part on state comments -- the Department's recommendations. The idea of a regional approach to meeting the water crisis, including creation of a regional fund to finance necessary developments, was supported by all five states, the Secretary said, said Secretary Udall, a former Arizona congressman, and Undersecretary Carr, formerly chairman of the California State Water Commission.
