PACIFIC SOUTHWEST WATER PLAN Addendum to Appendix Section BUREAU OF INDIAN AFFAIRS January 1964 INTRODUCTION In the Appendix of the Report of August 1963 of the Pacific Southwest Water Plan is a section which was prepared by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The purpose of this Addendum is to bring the Bureau of Indian Affairs' section of the Appendix up to date for inclusion in the revised draft of the Pacific Southwest Water Plan. In the August 1963 draft there was included a tabulation of reservations and Indian irrigation projects for which an action program up to the year 1990 was proposed. For the revised draft there have been selected from this tabulation certain projects for inclusion in the Initial Phase of the Pacific Southwest Water Plan. These projects include the construction, expansion, and rehabilitation of the San Carlos Irrigation Project and irrigation projects on the Colorado River, Fort Apache, Gila River, Ak Chin (Maricopa), Papago (Chuichu only), Salt River, Fort McDowell, and San Xavier Reservations, including lining of canals, to secure the benefits of the proposed Central Arizona Project. Planning for irrigation and other uses of water on other reservations in the area encompassed by the Pacific Southwest Water Plan is proposed for inclusion as an item of the Initial Phase of the Plan. It is proposed that high priority for planning be given to these reservations and that the funds for the planning be authorized and provided in the Initial Phase of the Plan. PROJECTS PROPOSED FOR THE INITIAL PHASE 1.
