PERAN KEPOLISIAN DALAM PENERTIBAN PENGGUNAAN PLAT NOMOR KENDARAAN BERMOTOR YANG TIDAK RESMI DI DIY

The pace of civilization of a state is continuously developed. It forces the happening of change and development of reasoning pattern in society. It can emerge various positive and negative impacts. One of the negative impacts is by conducting modification towards motorized vehicle of which principally lack of consideration and often violates to the valid determination. Those who can give license and motorized vehicle documents is the part of Police Force in particularly Ditlantas who has full authority in giving punishment towards the users of illegal number plate. The problem formulation was following: 1. How is the role Regional Traffic Police Force of Yogyakarta Special Region in overwhelming the violation of which use imitation number plate in Yogyakarta Special Region? 2. How is the action conducted by the part of Regional Traffic Police Force of Yogyakarta Special Region in overwhelming the violation of imitation number plate? The type of conducted research was empirical legal research, i.e. a research of which is directly conducted based on the fact happened in the field. The purpose of correcting of the use of imitation number plate by Ditlantas is to prevent, decrease, control, secure and overwhelm all of activities relating to the criminal act of the increased motorized vehicle robbing. The part of police fore can conduct correcting the use of the imitation number plate by two ways, i.e.: 1. Providing education in society in the field of traffic and conduct campaign of traffic order. 2. By conducting the preventive action by giving consolidation to the society as well as by repressive action by conducting routine operation and also giving punishment of traffic ticket appropriately to the Law Number 22 of 2009 on Traffic and Transportation, in particularly the article 280. The conclusion of the research above is the police should give more consolidation as the effort of preventing as well as by conducting campaign of traffic order. The police should be firmer in overwhelming and giving punishment to the user of imitation number plat
