Public Policy and Quantitative Participation in the city of Zihuatanejo, México

Tourism has become an instrument of economic development at an international level in countries with natural, heritage and cultural beauty. It is also an agent that transforms the characteristics of the territories and public policies serve as structuring axes in the creation of artificial tourist poles, as happened in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Mexico. The adverse effects of tourism in the territory (mainly social) are usually analyzed through municipal diagnoses, but are obsolete in the implementation of public policy and new policies are necessarily created to mitigate the damage to the host society. In this case, an urban policy is developed at the study site and a pilot test of social participation through surveys, exposing the main urban problems in peripheral settlements, specifically in areas with a high degree of social backwardness with the opinion and participation of the habitantsEl turismo se ha convertido en un instrumento de desarrollo económico a nivel internacional en países con belleza natural, patrimonial y cultural. Sin embargo, también es un agente que transforma las características propias que poseen los territorios y las políticas públicas fungen como ejes estructurantes en la creación de polos turísticos artificiales, tal como sucedió en Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, México. Los efectos adversos del turismo en el territorio (principalmente sociales) suelen analizarse mediante diagnósticos municipales, pero quedan obsoletos en la implementación de la política pública y forzosamente se crean nuevas políticas que mitiguen los daños en la sociedad receptora.
