An essential component in modern DC systems is the bus-forming boost converter. However, voltage regulation of the boost converter in continuous conduction mode using traditional linear technique is not an easy task due to the system’s inherent right-half-plane zero, which often forces designers to settle with a controller that has narrow bandwidth and poor dynamic response in exchange for adequate stability margin. The effectiveness of linear controllers is further undermined by the nonlinearities of the system.
