This article phocuses on the analysis of nervous syndromes as some of the most common maladies treated by non traditional medicine. The study, carried out in a slum area of the city of Cali, analyses how people think about their health. A fact which the healer always takes into consideration is that their patients interpret events of their daily life according to specific cultural codes.
