Relectura de la égloga II

In this paper we intend to propose a holistic reading of the Égloga II by Garcilaso de la Vega within the humanistic context of Neapolitan literary renewal in which it was begotten (with the obvious influence of Sannazaro's Arcadia, the topics and images of courtly and Neoplatonic philosophy and the rhetorics of the «presentation of the prince» which are to be found not only in the literature of the age but also in its iconography). We have therefore devised a threefold structure shaped like a «performable» eclogue and endowed with a specular structure en abîme based on the motive of the premonitory dream. Three different lines of symbols are intertwined in the fabric of the text: war, love and wisdom, epitomized by the gods Mars, Venus and Hermes and represented in three different conceptual and iconographie environments: bucholic Arcady, the river Tormes in the prophetic revelation of Severo and the epic unfolding of the Vienna campaign. Following the exampie of Arcadia's Carino, «the New Paris», who was shepherd, courtier and soldier, Albanio is, provided our interpretation is correct, de duke of Alba.El objetivo de este artículo es proponer una lectura holística de la Égloga II de Garcilaso de la Vega a la luz del contexto humanista de renovación literaria napolitano (con la evidente influencia de la Arcadia de Sannazaro, el imaginario neoplatónico y cortesano y la tópica retórica de la «presentación del príncipe» del que dan muestras no sólo la literatura de la época sino, también, la iconografía) en el que fue gestada. Para ello se ha planteado una estructura tripartita, a modo de égloga «representable» y, a la vez, con estructura especular de puesta en abismo basada en la écfrasis y el motivo del sueño premonitorio. De este modo, tres serían los imaginarios simbólicos que se entrecruzan en la urdimbre del texto: la guerra, el amor y la sabiduría, encarnados en sus respectivos dioses. Marte, Venus y Mercurio-Hermes y representados en tres ámbitos conceptuales e iconográficos diferentes, la arcadia bucólica, el Tormes de la revelación profética de Severo y el desarrollo épico de la campaña de Viena. Si la interpretación es correcta, Albanio es, sin género de duda, el duque de Alba, de la misma manera que Carino en la Arcadia era «un nuevo Paris», pastor, cortesano y soldado
