The paper treats about traditional and regional food products which are subject of an increasing interest. It is based on secondary sources and personal research. Taking advantage of the available literature, articles in trade magazines and information in governmental websites, it defines and characterizes market of traditional and regional food products, consumer behavior and it describes national and international distinctive product systems and promotional programs. In addition, surveys were conducted which examined the degree of perception of these products among consumers.
