Issues of bioethanol from sugarcane produced in Brazil were presented, in particular production volume in the period 2009-2012 and forecast for 2013 year on the background of the largest economies in the world, and Poland. Brazil is the world's second largest producer of ethanol fuel after USA. Aspects related to greenhouse gas emissions and energy balance of fuel were discussed. Carbon dioxide emissions for biofuels produced from different raw materials were presented. Selected aspects of bioethanol sector produced in Brazil, the USA and Poland were compared.
