Abstract. Throughout history, market arrangements are necessary institutions in historical context. Greenspan and Woodridge provide a scholarly narrative for US economic history against the backdrop of creative destruction, irrational exuberance, and secular stagnation to evaluate periods when markets became more prominent and policies that made them less so.Keywords.
