A VIOLÊNCIA CONTRA A MULHER EM MOÇAMBIQUE: PRÁTICAS E REPRESENTAÇÕES SOCIAIS: Practices and social representations

This article aims at analyzing the practices and social representations on violence against women in the cities of Maxixe and Nampula (Mozambique). A sample of 08 male aggressors and 23 female victims in those cities was interviewed, having developed a qualitative strategy that capitalizes on the representations, meanings and life experiences of both victims and aggressors. The results reveal that the families of origin the interviewees were extremely violent and it continued in their marriages. Furthermore, the results show a general drift of tolerance of violence against women by women themselves. The results also points out some institutional weaknesses due to the scarcity of resources to assist victims, which becomes the main obstacle on the support of female victims.   Este artigo pretende analisar as práticas e representações sociais sobre a violência contra a mulher nas cidades de Maxixe e Nampula (Moçambique). Para esse efeito, foram realizadas 23 entrevistas a mulheres vítimas e 8 a homens agressores, cujos discursos ajudaram a dar forma a este artigo. Foi acionada a metodologia qualitativa, que permitiu capitalizar as interpretações e os significados que os entrevistados atribuíam às suas vidas. Os resultados revelam que as famílias de origem dos entrevistados eram extremamente violentas, tendo a violência continuado em suas vidas conjugais. Revelam igualmente uma tendência de tolerância da violência contra as mulheres pelas próprias vítimas. Por último, foram observadas fragilidades institucionais referentes à carência de meios de apoio às vítimas, que acabam por ser os principais obstáculos à intervenção nas vítimas. &nbsp
