Abstract

Amos Amos/Big Thunder/Mu Taga - Stoney/Nakoda: Big Thunder, also known as Amos Amos, was a hunter and guide in the foothills close to Banff National Park. He was a great horseman, participated in calf-roping events at the Calgary Stampede and opened his own riding school at Morley. He was on the committee for Banff Indian Days for many years, as well as a doctor and medicine man. He died in 1963. Nicholas de Grandmaison sketched a pastel drawing of him in 1949.The University of Lethbridge Library received permission from the University of Lethbridge Archives and the Dr. Margaret (Marmie) Perkins Hess Gallery to digitize and display this content.Not yet availabl
