Some where in Italy January 10, 1944 My Dearest sweetheart Hello my sweet and how are you to night? Fine I hope. As for myself I am still OK & feeling fine. We have had sevearal days of nice weather now. By nice weather I mean it hasent rained much. We have had several frosty mornings. I had much rather it would be cold than to rain so much. Sweetheart I got your letter that was written Christmas day yesterday. And sweet you sounded so blue. I know it wasent so good my not being there Honey, but I am sorry you felt so bad. Your letter had a very bad effect on me yesterday, that is why I dident write last night. It was just one of those times when I was afraid to write. Some times I get to thinking & that dosent do me any good either, so I try and not think too much. Honey I hope the youngsters are getting along OK again by now. Honey did you ever get the Candy I sent you for X-mas. I sent it while we were in Oran. They we supposed to mail it so you would it by Christmas, be sure and let me know if you did ot did not get it. It wasen't much, but I wanted you to have some- thing from me any way. Things have been pretty quiet for a few days. Not much going on. We had a little air activity day be fore yesterday, but no damage done
