September 15, 1943 My Dearest One, Good afternoon my sweet and how are you this nice rainy afternoon, yes we are having some rain here. I dont believe I told you that we are living in tents and it is quite a problem to keep dry. We dont have any lights of course and when you put the x sides of them down it is so dark that you cant see a thing. I have one corner of the tent up now while I am writeing this so if all the words arent spelled right you will know what is wrong. And another thing Honey, if this typeing comes out so small that it is hard for you to read it let me know and I will use all capitol letters so it will be larger. Well the mail just came in and I dident get any mail. But I got a letter yesterday so I am doing ok anyway. If I get two or three letters a week I will be setting pretty. I wrote Dad and Mother Holt also Wylie lans night. I will try and write your Mother & Dad also Florence & Homer. Honey send me Jesseies address I have forgotten it. You know Honey it is hard for me to realize that C.W. is old enough to start to school. I bet he deals someone some misery. Who will he have for a teacher? Honey you asked in your last letter of Sept 1st wheather I got sea sick or not. No I faired pretty good after the first two days at sea. Honey I will refer to your letters by date that way you can tell better how they are coming through. As you said it seems funy to be writeing something new and by the time you get this it will be two weeks old. But if I keep writing every day or two maby it wont be so bad. Well I had to stop and have pay day and dinner, so now it is late afternoon and still raining, and I think from the looks of things it is going to keep it up for several days. We got paid off in France and I dont know yet how much money I drew, maby I will get it figured out after while. I belive I will have thirty or forty dallars to send home this time and more next time. Honey be sure to get everything that you and the kids need. This is first time that I have ever been able to give you what you have deserved, I only regret that I cant be there to enjoy it with you. Honey you spoke of Henry & Modean making up, I dont remember of your ever writeing me anything about them having any trouble. But any how I am glad they have gone back together for the sake of the kids. I still dont see why any one should quarrell any how. If they had to be seperated like we are for awhile I think most of them would change their minds dont you. Well my sweetit is getting late and about time for supper so I will close for now and maby write again tomorrow.
