Horsfall bsa '25.James Gordon Horsfall (1905-1995) was born in Mountain Grove, Missouri, and grew up in Monticello, Arkansas, where his father became president of an agricultural school. He began attending the University of Arkansas in 1921. He scouted the fields near Marianna, Arkansas, for signs of the boll weevil. He obtained Ph.D. in 1929 from the University of Arkansas. He helped invent organic fungicides, and he also worked in epidemiology. He led in the creation of the Annual Review of Phytopathology
