The National School Feeding Program (PNAE) is a Brazilian public policy on school feeding. It became a rural development policy in 2009 by establishing that at least 30% of federal funds transferred to school lunches must be used to purchase products from family farming (AF) directly. This research evaluated how the resources of the PNAE are used and what are the potentials and limitations in the purchase of food from family farming in Getúlio Vargas, Rio Grande do Sul.
