Los grandes santuarios marianos de peregrinación en Latinoamérica: Una mirada desde el Concilio Vaticano II

The shrines of pilgrimage that hosts the Marian devotions sponsoring twenty one countries in Latin America are buildings that are very present in the collective imagination of every nation, and which influence the people who make the decisions, whether bishops, priests, sacred art commissions or faithful associations. Only five of them dating from the colonial era. Six others were built in the 19th century, after the independence of their respective countries. Finally, we find nine buildings that were completed after Vatican II.This paper shows a panoramic tour around these temples-all wear the title of basílica-, with the main objective of searching the lines of force of religious architecture in Latin America.Los santuarios de peregrinación que alojan a las veintiuna advocaciones marianas que patrocinan a los países de Latinoamérica son edificios que están muy presentes en el imaginario colectivo de cada nación, y que influyen en las personas que toman las decisiones, sean obispos, párrocos, comisiones de arte sacro o asociaciones de fieles. Sólo cinco de ellos datan de la época colonial. Otros seis fueron construidos en el siglo XIX, con la independencia de sus respectivos países. Finalmente, nos encontramos con nueve edificios que se terminaron de construir tras el Concilio Vaticano II.En esta comunicación se realiza un recorrido panorámico por estos templos —todos poseen el título de basílica—, con el objetivo de radiografiar las principales líneas de fuerza de la arquitectura religiosa en Latinoamérica
