The paper tries to systematize the literature about intellectuals, scholars, and scientists who were forced out of their native countries by the Nazi in the 1930s. By using a two dimensional analytic scheme the paper distinguishes on the subject dimension between contributions focusing on individuals, small groups, scientific disciplines, and ethno-religious communities, or collectives defined by their nation-state.
