KOMUNIKASI NONVERBAL GAYA BERPAKAIAN (STYLE) DALAM SUBKULTUR PUNK

ABSTRACTNon verbal communication is one of many types of ways to communicate, one of those is nonverbal communication, which is basicly a communication with the absence of vocal sound in the process of transferring messages from a communicator to a communicant. In non verbal communication, messages mostly imply through the means of gesture or body language, or in this case a certain fashion style as as symbol of the messages. Fashion style it self consisting many messages that the person who wear it want to imply to others. We can view through the fashion style of the punk subculture that consists of many meaning, that punk subculture try to communicate it to the people in the mainstream culture. From this case we can study how the punk subculture using the non verbal communication to imply their mesaages through their fashion style. Punk subculture is a subculture the born as the reaction of the restless, unsatisfied, rejection and resistance against the manifestation of the mainstream culture, in which they consider the cause of the social stratification in the society. Punk as a subculture representating their spirit of resistance in many ways, one of those is through out their fashion style. The fashion style concepts of the punk subculture are different from the society from the mainstream culture with their certain standart values. Punk subculture explicitly try to impart their messages through the fashion style which consist lots of significance, such as, Mohawk hairstyles, chain and locks necklace, safety pin as an earing, boots with ceratin colors of shoelace that express their ideology and idealism. Through this analysis we can achive a conclusion that a nonverbal communication in the punk subculture is representated by their fashion style, which in every aspect of their fashion style consist certain values that they want to imply to others. Because of the amount of values that consist in their fashion style, punk subculture consider that their fashion style is something sacred and not for everyone.Keywords: Communication, Nonverbal, Fashion, Style, Subculture, Punk
