Adrien Litzau interviews Stanley Rogers (Floyd Stanley Rogers) on October 20, 2004 for the Western North Carolina Oral History Project. Born in Sylva in 1956, Rogers has lived in Cullowhee most of his life and his great grandfather, Will Rogers, was a founding member of the AME Mount Zion Church. Rogers talks about how the church has changed over the years, his memories of the church, and his role in the church now. He discusses the relocation of the church and cemetery to make room for the growing Western Carolina Teachers College and current property issues they face today. Rogers also discusses his experience going to school and growing up as an African American person in Jackson County
