EVOLUCIÓN DE LOS ÍNDICES DE BURNOUT EN UN EQUIPO FEMENINO DE BALONCESTO

The aim of the study was to reach a better knowledge of the burnout levels in professional women athletes. The Maslach Burnout Inventory version modified by Garcés de Los Fayos to be applied in athletes (IBD) was administered to ten basketball professional women players in two occassions: at the beginning of the session and three months later. Results show that any player reached burnout levels, although some changes were observed. In five cases, the levels of emotional exhaustion increased, putting these women in risk of developing a burnout syndrome. Psychological factors of these athletes, as well as their relationship with their environment are analized as possible reasons which can allow to understand the evolution of these emotional reactions across the Basketball League session.Se aplicó el Maslach Burnout Inventory en la versión adaptada a deportistas (IBD) realizada por Garcés de Los Fayos a diez jugadoras de baloncesto profesional en dos ocasiones: al inicio de la temporada y al cabo de tres meses con el fin de evaluar los niveles de burnout y su evolución en este tipo de deportistas. Los resultados indicaron que, si bien no llega a aparecer el síndrome de burnout en ningún caso, se observa que en cinco de las diez jugadoras se produce un incremento en la dimensión de agotamiento emocional, lo que las sitúa en un nivel de vulnerabilidad respecto a la aparición del síndrome. Se analizan diversas caracteristicas de estas deportistas y de su relación con el entorno que podrían permitir comprender el por qué de esta evolución a lo largo de la temporada
