Regnum

The concept of regnum, as already pointed out by Höff e (1997), is closely linked to that of the State. Cotta (1960) goes so far as to say: "poiché qui il termini regnum ha più il senso generico di Stato che non quello specifi co di monarchia". Höff reads the City of God as the apology of the Christian state, but in considering this term, which we consider insufficiently treated, he does so from a more fi losophical perspective, seeking the Augustinian sense of state, and proposes two possibilities, moralistic or positivistic, to end up accepting, rightly, both, because the term acquires in Augustine a double eschatological and real level. But this author seems to consider the sense of regnum in a clearly eschatological way, while we consider that it is more accurate to give it a greater duality, in parallel to the term civitas.El concepto de regnum, como ya señaló Höff e (1997), está muy ligado al de Estado. Cotta (1960) llega a decir: “poiché qui il termini regnum ha più il senso generico di Stato che non quello specifi co di monarchia”. Höff e lee la Ciudad de Dios como la apología del estado cristiano, pero al considerar este término, que consideramos trata insufi cientemente, lo hace desde una perspectiva más fi losófi ca, buscando el sentido agustiniano de Estado, y propone dos posibilidades, moralista o positivista, para terminar aceptando, acertadamente, ambos, debido a que el término adquiere en Agustín un doble nivel escatológico y real. Pero este autor parece considerar el sentido de regnum de forma netamente escatológica, mientras que nosotros consideramos que es más acertado darle una dualidad mayor, en paralelo al término civitas
