The platonic biography of Diogenes Laertius (III, 1-46) is full of stories and anecdotes coming from the oral tradition. This essay deals fragments from the oral tradition in which Diogenes Laertius exposes the paternal genealogy of Plato with names such as Codrus, Poseidon and Apollo.
