This paper estimates the trend in leaving the parental home according to age (from 20 to 35 years), sex, birth-cohort group and "Autonomous Region" of residence. On the one hand, through the proportions of single people that are 35 years of age and still live at their parental home, we estimate the regional prevalence of leaving home and partnership formation. On the other hand, through the mean age of young single people living with their parents, the timing of leaving home and partnership formation is estimated. We define the independence from the parental family as forming a cohabiting relationship, an independent household, or both at the same time.
