In this paper I investigate what I call person verbal deixis (PVD), usually known as cross-reference or person agreement in the linguistic literature. I survey the main types of PVD observed in many languages of the world. It is shown that in different genetically and geographically unrelated languages the verb is provided with deictic morphemes or clitics convcyving the main participants in the denoted event and that these verbal forms can function as complete sentences. In this paper some of the many morphosyntactic aspects of PVD are analyzed. It its shown that up to four participants can be included in one single verbal form.
