The study of the brotherhoods during the Modern Age in the Hispanic Monarchy has been a historiographical subject with twists and turns. In the Iberian Peninsula, scientific production has been linked, almost inextricably, to exercises of "local history". Therefore, in many cases, it was approached with very specific and limited views. In any case and thanks to this, we have an interesting corpus for Spanish cases. However, if we look at the brotherhood historiography in Latin America we will find a very small set of publications for much of the 20th century.
